Getting There

• Car

  From Upper Valley, head south on US-5 S towards White River Junction. Merge onto I-91 S via the ramp to Brattleboro. Continue on I-91 S for about 25 miles, then take exit 28 for US-4 W toward Rutland. Follow US-4 W for approximately 15 miles until you reach the intersection with VT-22A N. Turn left onto VT-22A N and continue for about 16 miles until you reach the junction with NY-74 W. Turn right onto NY-74 W and drive for about 10 miles. Finally, turn left onto Fort Ti Rd, and the fort will be on your left at 102 Fort Ti Rd, Ticonderoga, NY 12883. Note: There may be tolls along your route, so have some cash or an EZ Pass ready.

• Public Transportation

  To travel by public transportation, first take a local bus or shuttle service to White River Junction, VT. From there, you can take a Greyhound or Trailways bus that travels towards Ticonderoga, NY. Ensure you check the bus schedules ahead of time as they may vary. Once you arrive at Ticonderoga, you may need to use a local taxi service or rideshare (like Uber or Lyft) to reach Fort Ticonderoga, which is approximately 3 miles from the bus station.

• Biking

  For adventurous travelers, biking is an option. Start from Upper Valley and take the scenic route along the Connecticut River via US-5 S. Once you reach the junction with I-91 S, you can follow the bike paths along the river or state routes that lead through rural Vermont and New York. Be prepared for a challenging ride, as some roads may not have bike lanes. The total distance is approximately 50 miles, and it could take several hours depending on your biking speed. Ensure you have a bike repair kit and plenty of water.
