If you choose to rent a car, start from Cat Ba Town. Drive along the main road (Trần Phú) heading east towards the ferry terminal. After approximately 20 minutes, take the ferry from Cat Ba Island to Hai Phong City. The ferry ride typically costs around 200,000 VND per person. Once you arrive in Hai Phong, follow signs to Highway 10 and merge onto it, heading towards Uông Bí. After about 2 hours of driving, take the exit towards Phương Đông. Continue straight until you reach Hồ Yên Trung.

From Cat Ba Town, head to the main bus station located near the center of town. Catch a bus heading to Hai Phong, which costs approximately 100,000 VND. The bus ride takes about 1 hour. Once in Hai Phong, transfer to a bus bound for Uông Bí. The fare for this bus is around 50,000 VND, and the journey takes about 1.5 hours. Get off at the stop closest to Hồ Yên Trung, and you may need to walk a short distance to reach the lake.

After taking the ferry to Hai Phong City (costing about 200,000 VND), continue your ride to Hồ Yên Trung.
