Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car from the center of Cat Ba Island, head towards the Cat Ba ferry terminal. From there, take the ferry to Hai Phong, which will take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arriving at Hai Phong, follow the signs to National Route 10 towards Quang Ninh. Continue on this road for about 70 kilometers. You will see signs for Tuan Chau Island as you approach Ha Long City. Follow the signs, and you will reach the Tuan Chau Island entrance, where you may need to pay a small entrance fee (around 50,000 VND) to access the island.

Public Bus
To travel by public transport, start by taking a local bus or taxi from your accommodation in Cat Ba to the Cat Ba ferry terminal. Purchase a ticket for the ferry to Hai Phong, which costs approximately 200,000 VND. Once you arrive in Hai Phong, take a local bus heading to Ha Long. The bus ride will take around 1 to 1.5 hours and costs about 40,000 VND. After arriving at the Ha Long bus station, take a taxi or another local bus towards Tuan Chau Island. The taxi ride will be around 15 minutes and could cost approximately 100,000 VND, depending on your negotiation skills and the traffic at the time.

For the more adventurous travelers, renting a motorbike is an excellent way to explore the route. Rent a motorbike in Cat Ba (typically around 120,000 VND per day). Ride to the Cat Ba ferry terminal and take the ferry to Hai Phong. Once you arrive in Hai Phong, ride along National Route 10 towards Quang Ninh for about 70 kilometers.
