The Majestic Tomb of Empress Thánh Cung: A Glimpse into Vietnam's Imperial Past

Getting There

• Bicycle

  Start at the center of Hue, perhaps from the Imperial City (Đại Nội). Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops nearby. Head southeast on Đào Duy Từ street and continue straight until you reach Lê Lợi street. Turn left onto Lê Lợi street and follow it until you reach the intersection with Hùng Vương street. Turn right onto Hùng Vương street and continue for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see a sign for the Thủy Xuân area; follow the signs. After about 5 minutes of cycling, you will arrive at CHG9+XPR, where the Tomb of Empress Thánh Cung is located.

• Motorbike Taxi (Xe ôm)

  From a central location like the Perfume River or the Imperial City, find a motorbike taxi (xe ôm) driver. Tell them you want to go to the Tomb of Empress Thánh Cung in Thủy Xuân. It should cost around 30,000 to 50,000 VND depending on your starting point. The driver will take you directly to the tomb, which is located at CHG9+XPR, Thủy Xuân. Make sure to confirm the price before starting your journey.

• Walking

  If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, start at the Imperial City (Đại Nội). Walk east along Đào Duy Từ Street until you reach Lê Lợi Street. Turn left and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Hùng Vương Street. Turn right onto Hùng Vương and walk for approximately 1.5 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the Thủy Xuân area. You will find the tomb located at CHG9+XPR. The walk should take about 30-40 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

• Public Bus

  From the city center, locate the nearest bus stop and catch Bus No. 2, which heads towards Thủy Xuân. Make sure to ask the driver or check the bus schedule for stops. Get off at the Thủy Xuân stop. From there, you can walk approximately 15 minutes to the tomb by heading southeast towards CHG9+XPR. This method is budget-friendly and gives you a chance to see more of the local area.
