Getting There
Public Transit
Start at the Rosslyn Metro Station, which is accessible via the Orange, Silver, and Blue Lines. From the station, take the Metro to the Arlington Cemetery station (one stop away). Once you arrive at Arlington Cemetery, take the exit towards Memorial Drive. After exiting, walk towards the Memorial Drive and look for the bus stop labeled 'Arlington Cemetery'. Board the ART Bus 42 towards Pentagon City. Stay on the bus for about 10-15 minutes and disembark at the stop for 'George Washington Parkway'. From there, it's a short walk along the pathway to the Scenic Overlook.
Walking
If you are near the National Mall, start by walking towards the Lincoln Memorial. From there, cross the Arlington Memorial Bridge which leads directly into Arlington. Continue walking straight which will take you to the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the Parkway north for about a mile on the scenic path until you reach the Scenic Overlook. You’ll be able to enjoy views of the Potomac River and the Washington, D.C. skyline along the way.
Biking
If you have access to a bike, you can rent one from a nearby bike share station. Begin your ride from the Crystal City area and head towards the Mount Vernon Trail. Follow the trail north along the Potomac River. The trail will take you directly to the Scenic Overlook. This route provides beautiful views and is approximately a 30-minute ride. Be cautious of pedestrians and follow the biking rules along the trail.
