Walking
If you are starting from the Virginia Tech campus, head northwest towards Prices Fork Road. Turn left on Prices Fork Road and walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Smithfield Plantation Road. Turn right onto Smithfield Plantation Road. Continue walking for approximately 1 mile, and you will see Historic Smithfield on your left at 1000 Smithfield Plantation Rd.
Public Bus
You can take the Blacksburg Transit bus, route 42, from the downtown area (bus stop at the corner of Draper Road and Washington Street). Board the bus heading towards the Smithfield area. Stay on the bus for about 15-20 minutes, and get off at the 'Smithfield Plantation' stop. From there, it’s a short walk down Smithfield Plantation Road to the entrance of Historic Smithfield.
Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from a local bike shop or use a bike-sharing service. Start from the downtown area and head north on Draper Road. Follow Draper Road as it turns into Prices Fork Road. Continue straight for about a mile until you reach Smithfield Plantation Road. Turn right onto Smithfield Plantation Road, and you will arrive at Historic Smithfield after about a mile of biking.
