Public Bus
From downtown Charlottesville, walk to the Charlottesville Transit Center located at 615 E Water St. Take the Route 7 (JPA/Belvedere) bus. It departs every 30 minutes on weekdays and will take you towards the University of Virginia. Get off at the 'Monroe's Highland' stop, which is approximately a 25-minute ride. From there, walk about 0.5 miles down James Monroe Parkway to reach James Monroe's Highland.

If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the many bike-share stations in downtown Charlottesville. Head south on 2nd St SE, then take a left onto E Main St. Follow E Main St until you reach the intersection with US-29 S. Turn right onto US-29 S and then take a left onto James Monroe Parkway.
