Public Bus
From downtown Charlottesville, walk to the Charlottesville Transit Center located at 615 E Water St. Take the Route 7 (JPA/Belvedere) bus. It departs every 30 minutes on weekdays and will take you towards the University of Virginia. Get off at the 'Monroe's Highland' stop, which is approximately a 25-minute ride. From there, walk about 0.5 miles down James Monroe Parkway to reach James Monroe's Highland.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the many bike-share stations in downtown Charlottesville. Head south on 2nd St SE, then take a left onto E Main St. Follow E Main St until you reach the intersection with US-29 S. Turn right onto US-29 S and then take a left onto James Monroe Parkway. Continue on James Monroe Parkway for about 1.5 miles, and you will arrive at James Monroe's Highland.
Walking
If you enjoy walking, start from the Downtown Mall area. Walk south on 2nd St SE, then turn right onto E Main St. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with US-29 S. Cross at the pedestrian crosswalk and go left onto US-29 S. After about 0.8 miles, turn left onto James Monroe Parkway. Walk along James Monroe Parkway for about 1 mile, and you will find James Monroe's Highland on your right.
