    Getting There

    Car

    If you are already in Grayson Highlands State Park, start by making your way to the main park road. Head towards the intersection at VA-58. Turn onto VA-58 and follow it for approximately 4 miles. Look for the signs directing you to Whitetop Mountain Road. Turn left onto Whitetop Mountain Road and continue for about 3 miles. The Whitetop Mountain Trailhead will be on your right, and there is a parking area available.

    Public Transportation

    Grayson Highlands State Park does not have direct public transportation options. However, you can reach the nearest town, Damascus, VA, by bus services like Greyhound or other local services. From Damascus, you would need to hire a taxi or use a ride-sharing service to reach Grayson Highlands State Park. Once in the park, follow the directions for driving to the Whitetop Mountain Trailhead as described above.

    Walking/Hiking from Nearby Points

    If you are already within the park and are near the Grayson Highlands Visitor Center, you can hike to Whitetop Mountain. Take the Appalachian Trail from the Visitor Center, heading south.
