From Newport News, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus route 102 towards Norfolk. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes. You will want to get off at the stop named 'Granby St & 36th St'. From the bus stop, walk north on Granby St for about 0.2 miles. The Virginia Zoo will be on your left at 3500 Granby St.

If you're feeling adventurous and want to bike to the Virginia Zoo, start by heading towards the James River and take the scenic waterfront path. Follow the path until you reach the intersection with 25th St. Turn right on 25th St and then left onto Granby St. Continue straight for about 4 miles until you arrive at the zoo, which will be on your right at 3500 Granby St.

If you prefer to walk, you can start from the center of Newport News. Head east on 26th St until you reach the intersection with Washington Ave. Turn right and continue straight for about 1 mile until you reach the bus stop at 25th St. From here, you can either take the bus route 102 as mentioned above or continue walking along Washington Ave until it merges with Granby St. The Virginia Zoo will be approximately a 1.5-mile walk from this point, located at 3500 Granby St on your right.
