If you're starting from downtown Lynchburg, walk to the nearest bus stop on Main Street. Take the Route 3 bus heading towards the Liberty University area. Ride the bus until you reach the stop at the intersection of Route 29 and Route 130. From there, you will need to transfer to a regional bus service that operates to Monroe. Check the schedule for the specific times as the service may not run frequently. Once you arrive in Monroe, ask the driver to let you off at Milepost 63.6 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, where the James River Visitor Center is located.
Walking and Biking
If you are staying in a nearby hotel in Lynchburg and feel adventurous, you can rent a bike from a local bike rental service. Head towards the Blue Ridge Parkway trail entrance from the city. Follow the signs leading you to the Parkway, which is approximately 5 miles to the east of downtown.
