Getting There

• Walking

  If you're starting from downtown Lynchburg, head towards Washington Street. Start at the intersection of 12th Street and Main Street. Walk south on 12th Street until you reach Main Street, then turn left onto Main Street. Continue walking until you reach Washington Street. Turn right onto Washington Street. You will walk approximately 0.5 miles, and you will see the James River Overlook at 9 Washington St on your left. The overlook offers beautiful views of the James River, so make sure to take some time to enjoy the scenery!

• Public Transit

  Catch the local bus at the nearest stop in downtown Lynchburg, such as the Main Library stop. Board the bus heading south towards the Lynchburg City Stadium. Stay on the bus for about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. Disembark at the Washington Street stop. From there, walk a short distance (about 0.2 miles) north on Washington Street to reach James River Overlook at 9 Washington St. Enjoy your visit!

• Biking

  If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from a local rental service in downtown Lynchburg. Start your ride heading south on 12th Street, then turn left onto Main Street. Continue until you reach Washington Street. Turn right onto Washington Street, and bike approximately 0.5 miles. The James River Overlook will be on your left at 9 Washington St. Make sure to park your bike safely and take in the stunning views!
