Merge onto Route 64 West towards Richmond. Follow I-64 West for approximately 35 miles until you reach Exit 190 toward Broad Street. After exiting, take Broad Street into downtown Richmond. Once you get into the city, follow signs for Maymont Park, as Texas Beach is located near the park. Parking is available nearby, but be aware that there may be a fee during peak hours.
Public Transportation
For those opting for public transportation, begin by taking a local bus from Middle Peninsula to Richmond. Once in Richmond, you can catch the GRTC bus route 1 towards the Museum District. Get off at the Maymont stop. From there, it’s a short walk to Texas Beach. Be sure to check the bus schedules ahead of time, as routes may vary. Fares for the bus are typically around $1.50 for a single ride.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, consider biking from Middle Peninsula to Texas Beach. This option is only recommended for experienced cyclists due to the distance. Plan your route using local biking paths, taking Route 17 North towards Richmond and then connecting to the city's bike trails. Once in Richmond, follow the bike paths that lead to Maymont Park and then to Texas Beach. Make sure to wear a helmet and carry plenty of water. There are no additional costs, but plan for a longer travel time.
Walking
If you're already in the Maymont area, walking to Texas Beach is a pleasant option. From Maymont Park, follow the trails leading south until you reach the James River. Once you reach the river, you’ll find signs pointing towards Texas Beach. The walk is approximately 1 mile and offers beautiful views of the river and surrounding nature. This is a free option, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
