Then, turn right onto E Wythe St and walk for another 0.4 miles. Finally, turn left onto S Crater Rd and follow the signs to 6283 Watt House Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. The Gaines' Mill Battlefield will be on your right.

    From the Petersburg area, rent a bicycle from a local rental shop. Begin your ride by taking E Washington St heading east. After 1 mile, turn left onto S Crater Rd. Continue to follow S Crater Rd for approximately 6 miles. Follow the signs directing you to 6283 Watt House Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. The Gaines' Mill Battlefield will be located on your right side, just off the main road.
