Memorial Bridge Park: Nature's Oasis in Roanoke

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the heart of Old Southwest, head south on 5th Street SW towards Memorial Avenue. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Memorial Avenue. At this point, turn left onto Memorial Avenue SW. Walk approximately 0.5 miles, and you will see Memorial Bridge Park on your right at 1403 Memorial Ave SW. The park is easily identifiable with its entrance and signage.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, rent a bike from a nearby bike-sharing program available in Old Southwest. Begin at any bike station in the area and cycle south on 5th Street SW towards Memorial Avenue. Once you reach the intersection, turn left onto Memorial Avenue SW and continue for about 0.5 miles. You will find Memorial Bridge Park on your right-hand side. Be sure to follow bike lanes where available, and wear a helmet for safety.

• Public Transportation

  Though public transportation options may be limited in Old Southwest, you can utilize the Roanoke Valley Metro bus service. Check the nearest bus stop schedule for Route 3, which runs along Memorial Avenue. Board the bus heading towards the direction of Memorial Avenue. Disembark at the stop closest to the park, which may require a short walk (about 5-10 minutes) to reach the park entrance. Be sure to check the bus fare beforehand, as it may incur a small cost.
