Car
If you are already on Skyline Drive, look for the Doyles River Falls Trailhead, which is located near Milepost 81. As you drive along Skyline Drive, you will see mile markers on the right side of the road. When you reach Milepost 81, turn into the parking area for the Doyles River Falls Trail. Parking is free, but note that Skyline Drive does have an entrance fee of $30 per vehicle (valid for 7 days) if you are entering from outside the park.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, there are no direct bus services that go into Shenandoah National Park. However, you can take a bus to nearby towns like Elkton or Harrisonburg. From Elkton, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Doyles River Falls Trailhead at Milepost 81 on Skyline Drive. Be sure to confirm the availability of rideshare services in advance, as options can be limited in rural areas.
Hiking
Once parked at the Doyles River Falls Trailhead, the hike to the falls is approximately 1.8 miles one way. The trail is moderately challenging and features beautiful views along the way. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes, bring water, and allow at least 2-3 hours to enjoy the hike and the falls.
