Car
If you're traveling by car within Southwest Virginia, head towards Interstate 81. If you are coming from the north (like from Harrisonburg), take exit 240 for VA-256 toward Grottoes. Turn right onto VA-256 and follow it for approximately 4 miles. You will eventually turn left onto US-11 S, and then take a right onto Grand Cavern Rd. Continue on Grand Cavern Rd for about 1 mile until you reach Grand Caverns, located at 5 Grand Cavern Rd, Grottoes, VA 24441.
Public Transportation
Using public transportation can be less direct. First, check for a bus route that services the area. If you are in larger towns like Harrisonburg or Staunton, Greyhound or local transit services may get you to Grottoes. Once you arrive in Grottoes, you will likely need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach the caverns, as public transport may not go directly there. Expect taxi fares to be around $10-$15 from the Grottoes bus stop to Grand Caverns.
Rideshare
If you're near a major town like Harrisonburg or Charlottesville, consider using rideshare services like Uber or Lyft. Simply request a ride to 5 Grand Cavern Rd, Grottoes, VA 24441. This is a convenient option, especially if you are not familiar with the area. Rideshare costs may vary based on distance and time, but you can expect to pay approximately $30-$50 from Harrisonburg.
Use Grand Caverns as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
