From central Suffolk, head to the nearest bus stop and board the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus route 45. This route will take you directly to Norfolk. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes and disembark at the Waterside Drive stop. From there, you will need to walk approximately 5 minutes towards 1 Waterside Dr. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum will be located on your left as you approach the Waterside District.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local bike-share program in Suffolk. Start your ride towards the Nansemond River and follow the riverfront trail towards Norfolk. This route is approximately 8 miles and will take around 45 minutes to an hour depending on your pace. Upon reaching Norfolk, continue towards Waterside Drive, where the museum is located at 1 Waterside Dr. Suite 248.
Walking
For those who enjoy walking, begin at the Suffolk Visitor Center on North Main Street. Walk south towards East Washington Street and take a left. Follow this road until you reach the intersection with North Main Street. From there, continue onto the pedestrian-friendly path that leads to Norfolk. This walk is approximately 10 miles and will take about 2 to 2.5 hours. Once you are in Norfolk, find Waterside Drive and walk towards 1 Waterside Dr. Suite 248 to reach the museum.
