Getting There

• Car

  From Seattle, WA, take I-5 South towards Tacoma. Merge onto I-705 S and then onto US-512 E towards Puyallup. Continue on SR-7 S to SR-706 E. Follow SR-706 until you reach the Mount Rainier National Park entrance. There is an entry fee of $30 per vehicle (valid for 7 days). Once inside the park, follow signs to the Sunrise area, where the Mount Fremont Lookout Trailhead is located.

• Public Transportation + Car

  If you are taking public transportation, start by taking an Amtrak train or Greyhound bus to Tacoma, WA. From Tacoma, you can take a local bus (Pierce Transit Route 400) to the Puyallup station. From there, you will need to rent a car or use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft to reach Mount Rainier National Park. Follow the same directions as above from SR-706 E once you have your rental car.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, you can bike from nearby towns such as Ashford. Take SR-706 E towards Mount Rainier National Park. The ride is approximately 15 miles from Ashford to the park entrance. Be prepared for elevation changes and check the weather before setting out. It's important to carry plenty of water and snacks.
