Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from Seattle, Washington. Take I-90 East toward Spokane. After about 70 miles, take exit 85 for WA-18 toward Auburn. Continue on WA-18, then merge onto I-5 South. After approximately 20 miles, take exit 142A for WA-167 South toward Puyallup. Merge onto WA-167 South and continue for 25 miles. Follow signs for WA-410 East toward Enumclaw. Drive on WA-410 for about 50 miles until you reach the town of Greenwater. From Greenwater, take WA-410 East, then turn onto FS-70 (Forest Service Road 70). Follow FS-70 for approximately 12 miles until you reach the Mt. Daniel trailhead. Note that some parts of FS-70 may require a high-clearance vehicle, so check the road conditions before your trip.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, start by taking a bus from Seattle to Enumclaw. You can use King County Metro or Sound Transit services. Once in Enumclaw, you'll need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to continue to Greenwater. From Greenwater, the only option is to take a taxi or rideshare to the FS-70 trailhead. Be aware that public transportation options can be limited, so check schedules in advance and consider contacting local taxi services to ensure you have a way to reach your destination.

• Hiking

  Once you arrive at the Mt. Daniel trailhead, prepare for a hike. The trail is well-marked, but ensure you have a map or GPS device. The hike to the summit is approximately 5 miles, with a moderate to strenuous difficulty level. Allow for at least 3-5 hours to reach the top depending on your fitness level. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and weather-appropriate gear, as conditions can change rapidly in the mountains.
