From Kirkland, head to the nearest bus stop that services the Metro Transit routes. You can catch the Metro Bus Route 255 from the Kirkland Transit Center. Board the bus heading towards Seattle. Stay on the bus for approximately 25-30 minutes. Get off at the 'Ballard Locks' stop, which is close to the main entrance. From there, walk about 5 minutes west along W Commodore Way to reach the Ballard Locks Fish Ladder.

If you prefer to cycle, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Kirkland. Start by heading south towards the Burke-Gilman Trail. Follow the trail west, which will take you along the lakefront and through beautiful scenery. Continue on the trail until you reach the intersection with NW 52nd St in Ballard. Turn left onto NW 52nd St, then right onto W Commodore Way. The Ballard Locks Fish Ladder will be on your left after a short distance.

For a scenic walk, start from downtown Kirkland and head west towards the waterfront. Follow the waterfront path until you reach the junction with the Burke-Gilman Trail. Follow the trail west for about 2.5 miles. When you reach NW 52nd St, turn left, and then right onto W Commodore Way. The Ballard Locks Fish Ladder will be on your left, just a short walk from the intersection.
