Public Transit
From Redmond Town Center, walk to the nearest bus stop (located at 16600 NE 79th St). Take the Metro bus route 542 towards Seattle, which will take you directly to the University District. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the University of Washington stop. From there, transfer to the Metro bus route 44 towards Ballard. Ride for about 20 minutes and get off at the Ballard Locks stop. You will see signs directing you to the Ballard Locks Fish Ladder, which is only a short 5-minute walk away.
Bicycle
If you prefer to bike, start from downtown Redmond and head west on the Sammamish River Trail. Continue along the trail until you reach the intersection with the Burke-Gilman Trail. Turn left onto the Burke-Gilman Trail and follow it northwest for about 10 miles. This will lead you directly to Ballard Locks. Upon reaching the locks, follow the signs to the Fish Ladder, which is located adjacent to the main entrance.
Walking
To walk from downtown Redmond to Ballard Locks, head southwest on NE 85th St towards 164th Ave NE. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with 168th Ave NE and turn left. Follow 168th Ave NE until you reach NE 75th St. Turn right on NE 75th St and continue straight until you reach the Lake Washington Blvd NE. Cross the bridge and walk towards Ballard. It’s a long walk (approximately 10 miles) but can be a scenic route. Once you reach the locks, the Fish Ladder will be well marked.
