Start your journey at the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Visitor Center located at 171 Shoreline Drive, Harpers Ferry, WV. From the Visitor Center, head south on Shoreline Drive towards the entrance of the park. Follow the signs for the Maryland Heights Trailhead. The trail begins at the base of the hill, marked by a wooden sign. The hike to Split Rock is approximately 2 miles and takes around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your pace. The trail is moderately steep, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. Along the way, you will pass through beautiful wooded areas and have scenic views of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. Once you reach the top, continue following the trail until you see Split Rock, which is well-marked.
