Public Transit - Bus
Start by locating the nearest bus stop serviced by the Mountain Line Transit system. You can find bus schedules and routes at their website or at local transit information centers. Take the bus that heads towards the West Virginia University (WVU) campus. Get off at the stop closest to the WVU Downtown Campus. From there, transfer to the bus line that goes towards the Cheat Lake area, specifically Route 8. Once on Route 8, stay on the bus until you reach the stop at the intersection of Forest Loop Trail, which is near the entrance to the Fairy Garden. After disembarking, walk approximately 0.5 miles down Forest Loop Trail to reach the Fairy Garden.
Walking
If you are nearby, you can walk to Fairy Garden. Begin at the West Virginia University Downtown campus. Head south on University Avenue and continue until you reach the intersection with State Route 7. Turn left onto State Route 7 and follow this road for about 1 mile. You will see signs for the Forest Loop Trail on your left. Turn left onto Forest Loop Trail and walk straight for about 0.5 miles, and you will arrive at the Fairy Garden.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, start from the WVU Downtown campus. Head south on University Avenue and turn onto State Route 7. Follow State Route 7 for about 1 mile. Look for the sign indicating Forest Loop Trail on your left. Turn onto Forest Loop Trail and bike straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the Fairy Garden. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules while biking.
