If you are driving, begin your journey on Highway 2, heading east from Ashland, WI. Continue on Highway 2 until you reach the junction with Highway 13. Take Highway 13 north towards Washburn. As you approach Washburn, look for County Highway R, which you will take to the west. Follow County Highway R until you reach the ferry terminal for the Madeline Island Ferry. The ferry will take you to La Pointe, WI. Once on Madeline Island, follow the road signs to Big Bay State Park, located at 2402 Hagen Rd, La Pointe, WI 54850. Note that the ferry does incur a fee, which can vary based on vehicle size and passenger count.

For public transportation, you will need to use Greyhound or another bus service to reach Ashland, WI. After arriving in Ashland, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to the Madeline Island Ferry terminal. From there, take the ferry to La Pointe, WI.
