If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest city in the Driftless Area, such as La Crosse or Madison. From La Crosse, take I-90 E toward Tomah. Merge onto US-12 E toward Baraboo. Continue on US-12 E for about 40 miles. When you reach Baraboo, turn left onto County Rd W. Pewit's Nest will be on your left after about 2 miles. There is no entry fee, but be aware that parking is limited, especially on weekends.
Public Transportation
To reach Pewit's Nest via public transportation, you can take a Greyhound or Megabus to Baraboo. Once you arrive at the Baraboo bus station, you will need to use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, or find a local taxi to get to Pewit's Nest, which is approximately 3 miles from the bus station. The rideshare or taxi fare may range from $10 to $15 depending on the time of day and availability.
Biking
For adventurous travelers, biking is an option if you are already in the Baraboo area. You can rent a bike from a local shop in Baraboo. From the city center, head north on Broadway St, then connect to County Rd W. Follow County Rd W for about 2 miles. Pewit's Nest will be on your right. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic laws. This route is scenic and enjoyable, but be prepared for some hills.
Walking
If you are already in Baraboo and prefer walking, it is possible to walk to Pewit's Nest. Start from the Baraboo city center and head north on Broadway St. Connect to County Rd W and continue walking for about 2 miles. This route takes approximately 40-50 minutes on foot. Ensure you have good walking shoes and stay hydrated, especially during warmer months.
