If you are traveling by car and are within 50 kilometers from Old Faithful, start by locating the nearest highway. If you're coming from West Yellowstone, Montana, take US-20 E towards Yellowstone National Park. Enter the park through the West Entrance. Once inside, follow the signs for the Grand Loop Road (the main road through the park). Continue on Grand Loop Road for approximately 30 miles. Look for the signs directing you to Old Faithful, which will be on your right. There is a parking area available near the geyser, but be aware that parking can fill up quickly during peak season. A park entrance fee of $35 per vehicle is required for a 7-day pass.

Public Transportation

For those relying on public transportation, consider taking a shuttle service from nearby towns such as Jackson or Cody. Companies like Xanterra Parks & Resorts offer tour bus services that include stops at Old Faithful. You will need to book these in advance. Once you arrive at the park, the shuttles will take you directly to the Old Faithful area. Be sure to check the shuttle schedule and plan accordingly, as services may be limited depending on the season. Additionally, entrance to Yellowstone National Park will still require the $35 vehicle fee, even if you are using a shuttle.

Bicycle

If you are feeling adventurous, biking to Old Faithful is an option, but be prepared for the terrain. If you're less than 50 kilometers away, you can bike along the park roads. The roads are mostly paved, but be cautious of wildlife and vehicles. Bring plenty of water and snacks, as there may not be many facilities along the way. Remember that you will still need to pay the $35 park entrance fee when entering Yellowstone National Park.
