To reach Thunder Basin National Grassland from Bridger-Teton National Forest by car, start by heading east on US-26 E/US-89 S from the forest. Continue onto US-191 S toward Jackson. After approximately 38 miles, merge onto I-80 E toward Cheyenne. Continue on I-80 E for about 120 miles until you reach Exit 128 for US-87 N toward Douglas. Take US-87 N for approximately 29 miles until you reach Douglas. The Thunder Basin National Grassland office is located at 2250 E Richards St, Douglas, WY 82633. Be sure to check your fuel levels and have a map or GPS device handy, as cell service can be limited in remote areas.

If you prefer public transportation, take a Greyhound bus from Jackson, WY to Douglas, WY. The bus ride takes approximately 5 hours with potential layovers.
