Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Cody, WY, take US-14 W for about 50 miles. Then turn onto WY-296 W and continue for about 24 miles until you reach the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Once you enter the park, follow the signs to the Grand Loop Road and turn onto the road towards Midway Geyser Basin. Grand Prismatic Spring is located near the Midway Geyser Basin parking area.

• Car

  From Powell, WY, head west on US-14. After about 40 miles, merge onto WY-120 S and then onto US-287 S towards Yellowstone. Upon entering the park, follow the Grand Loop Road signs to Midway Geyser Basin. Park your car in the designated parking area and walk to Grand Prismatic Spring.

• Public Transportation

  While public transportation options to Grand Prismatic Spring are limited, you can take a bus from Cody to the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Once you arrive, you will need to use a park shuttle service or join a guided tour that includes stops at major attractions, including Grand Prismatic Spring. Be sure to check the bus schedules and book your tickets in advance, as they may have specific times and days of operation.

• Walking

  If you have parked at the Midway Geyser Basin parking area, the Grand Prismatic Spring is approximately a 0.5-mile walk from the parking lot. Follow the well-marked trails that lead directly to the viewing platforms for the spring. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and stay on the designated paths as the area is sensitive and can be hazardous.
