Start at the Chipata Central Market. Exit the market and head north on Mumbwa Road. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Great East Road. Turn left onto Great East Road and walk for about 2 kilometers until you reach the junction with the road leading to Changato. Turn right and continue for about 3 kilometers. You will see signs pointing to Gondar Dam. Follow the signs and continue walking until you reach Gondar Dam.
Local Taxi (Kabakaba)
From your location in Chipata, find a local taxi or 'Kabakaba' at any taxi stand or main road. Ask the driver to take you to Gondar Dam in Changato. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic. Ensure you have a clear understanding of the fare before starting your journey. The driver will drop you off close to the dam, from where you may need to walk a short distance to reach the exact location.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Chipata. Begin your journey at the Chipata Central Market and head north on Mumbwa Road. After approximately 1.5 kilometers, turn left at the Great East Road. Cycle for about 2 kilometers before turning right towards Changato. Continue cycling for about 3 kilometers while following the signs to Gondar Dam. The dam will be on your left side, and you can park your bicycle nearby.
