If you are traveling by car from Chipata, head northwest on Great East Road (A1) towards Lusaka. After approximately 120 kilometers, look for signs to turn left onto the M1 road towards Mpika. Continue on the M1 for about 250 kilometers until you reach the junction for the T4 road. Take the T4 road towards Nsumbu National Park. Follow the T4 for about 100 kilometers, and then take the road towards Lukwesa. You will see signs directing you to the park entrance. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition as some roads may be rough.

Public Transportation – Bus
To reach Nsumbu National Park using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Chipata to Mpika. Buses leave regularly from the Chipata bus station. The journey takes approximately 4-5 hours and costs around ZMW 150. Upon arrival in Mpika, look for a minibus or taxi that goes to Nsumbu National Park. Ensure to negotiate the fare with the driver; it should cost around ZMW 100-150. The minibus will drop you off at the park entrance, where you can pay the entrance fee.

For a more direct and flexible option, consider hiring a taxi from Chipata or Mpika. This will be more expensive, costing approximately ZMW 1,500-ZMW 2,000 depending on your starting point. A taxi can take you directly to the park entrance. It is advisable to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
