Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're driving, start from Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. Take the Great East Road (A3) heading east for about 200 kilometers until you reach the junction with the A8 road. Turn left onto the A8 road towards Kafue National Park. Continue for approximately 50 kilometers until you see signs for the park entrance. Enter Kafue National Park and follow the park road signs for about 30 kilometers to reach Musekese Camp, which is located near Mulola.
Public Transport (Bus)
From Lusaka, you can take a bus to the town of Monze, which is approximately 140 kilometers south. Buses leave regularly from Lusaka’s Intercity Bus Terminal. The bus fare is around ZMW 50-100, depending on the bus company. Once in Monze, you will need to find local transport (like a shared taxi or another bus) that heads towards Kafue National Park. Make sure to inform the driver you are going to Musekese Camp or the nearest drop-off point near Mulola. The fare from Monze should be around ZMW 20-50.
Taxi or Shuttle Service
If you prefer a more comfortable and direct option, consider hiring a taxi or a shuttle service from Lusaka directly to Musekese Camp. This option can be arranged in advance through your accommodation or local travel agencies. The cost for a taxi can range between ZMW 1,000 to ZMW 1,500 depending on the negotiation. Ensure you confirm the total fare before starting your journey.
Walking (Final Approach)
Once you are within Kafue National Park, you may need to walk a short distance to reach Musekese Camp if the vehicle cannot access the lodge directly. Follow the marked trails or inquire with staff at park entrances for the best walking route to the camp. Ensure you carry adequate water and wear comfortable footwear, as the terrain can be uneven.
Use Musekese Camp as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
