From Victoria Falls: Hwange Day and Overnight Safari

Good safari good sightings- Wange! We had a great two-day safari in Hwange National Park and stayed at Hwange Safari Lodge. The park is absolutely full of elephants, and seeing so many of them in their natural habitat was definitely a highlight of the trip! We were also lucky enough to spot the African wild dogs, or painted dogs, which our guide, Simba, told us are pretty rare to see. Simba was knowledgeable and did a great job helping us spot wildlife and explaining the animals and their behavior. One thing to keep in mind if you’re visiting during the summer is that it can get seriously hot out there! Some animals tend to stay in the shade and are less active during the heat of the day, so don’t expect every game drive to be action-packed from start to finish. The transfer from Hwange to Victoria Falls went smoothly, although the road conditions could definitely be better. There are quite a few trucks along the way, and the road has plenty of potholes, so be prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride. Overall, it was a memorable safari experience, with lots of elephants, a lucky sighting of the painted dogs, and a great guide in Simba. If you’re visiting Zimbabwe and want to experience its incredible wildlife, Hwange is definitely worth adding to your itinerary!

Impressive Huange National Park

The safari trip to the Huange NP was exceptional. William and Simba were very friendly and knowledgeable professionals who enriched our trip immensely. We saw many wildlife, in particular, the large herds of elephants (at least 70 in two herds). In additional, we saw, zebras, giraff, impala and many other animals and birds. We are very satisfied by the tour arrangements and the guides, and we highly recommend WillTac for any furure visitors. Only one negative aspect of the trip was the very bad condition of the road linking Victoria Falls to the Huange NP. At least one-third of the road is full of potholes and very uncomfortable to travel. Of course, it is not the fault of the tour company or its guides. I wish the concerned authorities take actions to repair the roads, which would certainly improve wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism.

Tongai is a phenomenal host. He went above and beyond to make us feel completely at home in Zimbabwe and very well cared for. From the home he chose for us to the attentive assurance with events and pick ups/drop offs, we never had to worry about anything! I cannot recommend Tongai enough.
