Maurice is a very personable and super patient dive master. I explained in my email to the Jan Thiel Diving Center that my family of 3 are vacation divers only, although all PADI certified. In so writing, I was hoping for but not really expecting some handholding in the beginning, to ease us into the fun. Maurice turned out to be exactly who we needed. He took his time with us through the BWRAF process, personally checked all of our equipment, and made sure none of us were left behind during the dives. He was super capable yet very chill.

Husband and I did two days of diving with Jan Thiel and could not have been happier with the experience. We tend to plan everything last minute and they were extremely responsive and helpful in finding us availability and making sure we got to visit different sites each day within our open water limits. The gear was in great shape and dives were fantastic! We’re relatively new divers and it was our first shore diving experience. We really appreciated the personal attention we received (just the two of us with the DM one of our days and one other diver with us on the second day) and the extra safety checks of all the gear we set up. Afterward, we really felt like we had improved our diving skills. DM did a great job of picking sites that weren’t crowded, often we were the only group. We saw a lot including seahorses and so many turtles!! Will 100% be back soon!

The care and attention given to our group was phenomenal. We are recreational divers, once a year while on vacation and they catered to our needs like we were royalty. I can't say enough nice things about them. The owners are incredibly nice and knowledgeable.
Last year I went with a different dive shop every dive. I used the dive shops at the beaches we visited. That was the overwhelming advice I was given.
None of the dive shops we used last year could even compare to jan theil. This year we dove exclusively with jan theil and it was a great decision.
They even had a professional photographer take pics and video of my son throughout an entire dive.
We stayed in coral estates, 45 minutes away. Well worth the extra driving for us.

What to expect

Every morning it is possible to do a 2 tank dive trip with us. We can go with our van to every dive location that can be reached from the shore. The wreck 'The Tugboat', which is only 5 min drive or the beautiful and many corals at 'Directors Bay'. Also the beautiful and almost extraterrestrial environment of "Carpile" is definitely recommended! Or do you want to join us on a full day trip to the west side of the island? You name it, we'll take you there! Start with fantastic coral reefs with a wide variety of different species of fish, turtles, lobsters, rays and other animals. All our trips are with small groups so we can give a lot of personal attention so that you will not get bored and have fun experiences in the one we love the most: diving on Curacao
