The Boulevard JO

Meeting point The boulevard is a mixed-use development, located in the Abdali area. It consists of a pedestrian strip surrounded by twelve 6 floored buildings. Since its opening, the Boulevard has become a meeting hotspot for locals and visitors alike. It is the perfect spot for shopping, dining, or spending quality time with friends and family. Apart from offering a recreational space, the Boulevard hosts several events throughout the year.

King Abdullah Mosque

The King Abdullah Mosque is definitely one of the gems in Amman. Its distinctive blue dome, beautifully decorated with Quranic inscriptions stands out immediately. The mosque was completed in 1989 as a memorial by the late King Hussain to his grandfather. It can host up to 7000 worshippers inside and a further 3000 in the courtyard. It also includes a small women’s section for around 500 worshippers. The Islamic museum inside the mosque contains a small collection of photographs and personal effects of King Abdullah I and provides an insight into the history of the Royal Family. The King Abdullah Mosque is the only mosque to openly welcome non-Muslim visitors.

The Citadel

The Citadel is one of the best-known attractions in Amman. Located on the highest hill of Amman (Jabal Al Qala’a), the beautiful remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules can be seen from everywhere and add to the unique landscape of the city. The Citadel has had a long history of occupation by many great civilizations which makes it an interesting and important attraction. There is a lot to see at the Citadel. The most striking sights of the Citadel are the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace, the Archaeological Museum, and a Byzantine Church. The Temple of Hercules was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius (AD 161-80). Looking at its hand-carved remains, one can only imagine the beauty and vastness of the Temple in its glory days. Apart from its history and importance, the Citadel serves as the perfect spot to enjoy the sweeping views of the downtown area.

Roman Theatre

The Roman Theatre in Amman, Jordan, is an impressive ancient structure dating back to the 2nd century AD. Built during the reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius, it could originally accommodate up to 6,000 spectators. The exhibition at the Jordan Museum takes you on a journey of Jordan’s historical epic from the first people through the Nabataean civilization to the modern era. Displaying various components of everyday life throughout history ranging from jewelry, crafts, tools, and statues, the Jordan Museum provides interesting learnings for everyone. Some of the highlights are the oldest-known human statues, Jordan’s share of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and a host of remains from Petra and its surroundings.

Royal Tank Museum

The Royal Tank Museum is the first specialized tank museum in the region. Displaying more than 140 tanks, the museum offers an informative insight into the role of tanks and vehicles in the past, present, and future. Using interactive storytelling exhibition tools, the museum takes you on an exciting journey through history, tactics of wars and battles, and Jordan’s involvement in the various conflicts and wars.
