It is exciting to think that Freud lived here until 1938, the year of his voluntary removal to London, to escape racial persecution. In the house there is very little left, some personal belongings, because everything was moved during the move. Some photos will give the idea of his studio and the room where he analyzed. The waiting room remained intact.

This is a great museum for people over the age of 14. There is a lot of reading in the exhibition cases, which makes you bump into ppl due to the size of the cases. Only two ppl can view a case at one time. There is no furniture in the apartment for reasons you will learn about. I learned a lot. I think there is definitely room for modernizing the exhibit even more than they have done. It's a bit old fashioned considering how many ppl are going through it. Not for children at all.

If you are a psychoanalyst friend and want to stay in the 'holy halls', you will get your money's worth here. However, the famous sofa is in London and there is little else original. The rooms are small, there are documents to see, footage and the family tree of the Freudian family. For 15 euros a bit overpriced.

Little is said about Freud's research, more about his biography and far too many unnecessary details about the house. Also missing is an audio guide or this is only offered hidden in German.

I’ve visited the museum close to closure time. Nevertheless, the experience proved to be very authentic. The museum has very thorough and elaborate description of Freud’s life stations, his influence and medical practices and method. Also described are collaborations and influences on and by others. Frankly, I have learned a good measure about his whereabouts and also had a taste of one of the books published by scholars in his legacy and life (on the small balcony you have a sample in Deutsch and English. All in all, it’s a very lovely place, and even though the museum is admitting that most of the furniture was relocated (some by Freud itself) to London, and that there are only empty walls, it feels like still the place echos old Viennese spirit, and it’s full of content and contemporary related psychotherapy trends.
