Tower of Markellos
The Marκellοs Tower dates from the 17th century, as it is considered to be part of the fortifications that protected the harbor and used by the Venetians as a watchtower. In 1802 the tower was renovated by Aeginean. During the revolution of 1821 the Tower of Markellos hosted Greek freedom-fighters and politicians. From 1826 onwards, it hosted the Temporary Government, the Deputy Commitee (1827), the National Fund and the Government House, while during the Kapodistrias’ administration it hosted various ministers.

i couldn't add the real location so I added my office. This step is about the Cathedral of Aegina , It is the first Cathedral of Modern Free Greece, three-aisled with three red domes. In the Metropolitan church, the Aegineans welcomed the governor Kapodistrias on January 11, 1828, and a few days later, on 28 January, Kapodistrias’ inauguration ceremony was held as the first Governor of the Greek State and the Panhellenic Council that constituted the interim Governmental committee.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
