Convenient and very easy for bike hire. Partner and I hired bikes for a few hours one afternoon. Rental process quick and easy, and price very reasonable. Bikes are more than fine for what you pay and the nature of cycling in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. Don’t expect any fancy road bike.

We had an amazing time bike riding in Amsterdam. As a family we weren’t keen on riding the busy city streets so we took the free F4 ferry from central station (near Mac’s bike hire) to Noord Amsterdam and cycled to Twiske and around the Waterland. Great bike tracks and wonderful scenery. Highly recommend Macs Bikes! They have a great selection to suit all ages.

I am a solo female 22 year old from Australia! I was so excited to hire a bike and ride through Vondelpark. I booked the bike while sitting in the park and thought and didn’t realise I hadn’t brought my ID. When I got to the bike shop i was called a “stupid girl” and the condescending man behind the counter said in a very demeaning way “you ticked the box and you came without an ID…”.. the truth was that I didn’t even see the box, but it shouldn’t have mattered, I would have been happy with a “sorry we can’t hire you the bike without an ID” but the name calling and condescending tone actually made me want to leave a bike shop in tears! I wouldn’t return and highly recommend the bike shop closer to the park who were exceptionally accomodating and kind!
