On clear days, you can see from its summit both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, much of the national territory, and, with a telescope, even Lake Nicaragua. Its maximum elevation is 3,432 meters above sea level, making it the highest volcano in Costa Rica. It registers an average annual temperature between 5°C and 9°C, as well as an annual rainfall of 2,387 mm in the Cráteres sector and 1,527 mm in the Prusia sector. Within this protected wilderness area, several rivers and streams originate, giving rise to the Reventazón, Sarapiquí, Sucio, and Toro Amarillo basins.
