What to expect

Your day starts with a drive through the beautiful countryside of Belize to the Village of Teakettle – about two hours away from Placencia. From there, we’ll turn off into the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and pass through mahogany groves and orchards. When we arrive at the trail, you’ll hike through the lush jungle for about 45 minutes before arriving at the caves. Finally, you’ll gear up before entering the caves where you’ll spend the next three hours hiking, swimming, and exploring this sacred cave formation. This tour is considered to be a moderate to hard intensity level tour. You’ll need to be able to: - Walk easily on flat and uneven surfaces. - Cross the river through moderately fast currents (while holding on to a rope). - Climb through the rocks and tight spaces in the cave. *Pictures are not permitted inside the caves and cameras are not allowed.* WHAT TO BRING: NOTE: Please wear closed-toe, hiking shoes with socks (a portion of the hike requires you to remove your shoes and wear socks – neither shoes nor bare feet are permitted). - Swimwear - Towel - Sunscreen - Bug spray - Socks - Backpack or shoulder bag for personal belongings - Hiking shoes/Walking shoes
