What to expect
Hua Lamphong Railway Station
Hua Lamphong Railway Station. Beyond its beautiful architecture, this historic station was the site of a horrific tragedy in 1986, when an unmanned runaway train crashed directly into the crowded platform. Now, I am going to take you to the exact historic spot where this devastating event unfolded.
Wat Phalapphla Chai
This temple, Wat Phlapphla Chai, has a dark past. Back in the day, the front grounds of this temple served as a public execution site for criminals. Because of this bloody history, many people have reported terrifying ghost encounters here. The most infamous story here is the case of 'Amdaeng Yu' during the reign of King Rama V. She was a wealthy noblewoman who brutally tortured her female slave to death out of pure jealousy. When her crime was exposed, she was brought right here to this temple, whipped 90 times, and beheaded in front of a massive crowd. Her spirit is said to still haunt this area to this day.
Wat Khanikaphon (Wat Mai Yai Faeng)
"This temple, Wat Kanikaphon, has a very unique and fascinating history. It was built during the reign of King Rama III by a woman named 'Yai Faeng' (Grandma Faeng). She wasn't a noble, but actually the Madame of a very famous local brothel. Having a deep faith in Buddhism, she convinced the sex workers in her brothel to pool their earnings together to build this temple back in 1833. Originally, locals called it 'Wat Mai Yai Faeng' (Grandma Faeng's New Temple). Later, during the reign of King Rama V, her descendants renovated it, and the King officially named it 'Wat Kanikaphon', which literally translates to: 'The Temple Built from the Earnings of Prostitutes.'"
Hidden alleyway in Chinatown. Here, you will see a tree wrapped in traditional seven-colored ribbons. Locals call this place ‘Suicide Alley.’ Back in the old days, many Chinese immigrants who failed to find success in life came to this exact tree to hang themselves. It creates a chilling, eerie atmosphere—a stark contrast hidden right behind Thailand’s most famous and vibrant street food paradise.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
