What to expect
Zuroloma Birding
Zuro Loma has 8 ha 19 ac. It is a new small private reserve that has a beautiful garden, hummingbird feeders that will be very good for people who enjoy photography. We will look for some types of birds like the sword-billed hummingbird, the sapphire-vented puffleg, the mountain velvetbreast, the tyrant metaltail, the chestnut-naped antpitta, the rufous antpitta, and many more birds while we spend time in that place. Normally, the visit to Zuro Loma lasts around 3 to 4 hours just to enjoy that beautiful place and have the chance to help the local people, because the boys in this place do a very good job of conservation with the idea of showcasing the species that they have in that area.
This reserve is located at an altitude of 3200-4400 meters above sea level, 10498-14435 feet. The Yanacocha Reserve has 1079 hectares, 2667 acres. It belongs to the Jocotoco Foundation, features a beautiful forest with many bird species, and the landscape is astonishing. The activity will be to enjoy the hummingbird feeders and take a walk while enjoying this enchanted forest. There are some birds like the Black-chested Mountain-tanager, Scarlet-bellied Mountain-tanager, Hooded Mountain-tanager, Spectacled Redstart, Buff-winged Starfrontlet, Blue-Backed Conebill, Pearled Treerunner, Masked Flowerpiercer, Glossy Flowerpiercer, and some other difficult birds like the Ocellated Tapaculo, Andean Pygmy-owl, and Purple-backed Thornbill. Furthermore, the idea of creating this reserve was to protect the habitat of a highly endangered hummingbird species, the Black-breasted Puffleg.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
