    Would definitely recommend skip the line (as it was incredibly long and also v hot (34 degrees!). Consider getting a tour guide but also good to explore yourself in your own time.

    We had a great time at the castle, but the tickets we received didn’t work. The guard waved us in anyway, thankfully. But definitely something fishy about the tickets we got. The barcodes wouldn’t scan and were listed as Not Valid. Definitely not cool. We just got lucky with a nice guard.

    Go early, got there at 9.00am no queue! And had the place all to myself. Surreal feeling. The free roaming peacock make it even wilder! Worth the climb up for sure. Make sure to download the tickets via email before you go.

    If you visit the castle first thing in the morning on a weekday, don’t bother with this. There were only a few other visitors at the 9am opening. Also, the confirmation email said I needed to be 15 minutes early for a security check… nope. No such check, and the gates don’t open before 9. The audio guide “included” is just the normal, free audio tour available to all entry levels. Just buy the regular entry ticket through the Castle and don’t bother with this unless you plan a weekend or afternoon visit. I could have saved at least 10 euros.
