What to expect

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of cocoa, long before it became chocolate. Lucien, passionate producer, opens the doors of his farm located in the heart of nature. He will introduce you to the history of cocoa in Martinique, its role in local agriculture and the specificities of the land that give the beans their uniqueness. You walk with him on a pedagogical path through the cocoa tree, punctuated by botanical, historical and sensory explanations. You will learn to identify a cocoa tree, recognize a ripe pod, understand the steps of processing the fruit: from harvesting to fermentation, then drying the beans. The workshop continues at Lucien, where you will discover his craft workspace. Depending on the season, you may have the chance to participate in certain stages of bean preparation, an indispensable prelude to making chocolate. The activity concludes with a raw tasting of cocoa, accompanied by sharing and anecdotes about this sacred food, which was once a bargaining chip and a ritual elixir. Before leaving, you will enjoy the cocoa, to brew, grate or enjoy according to tradition.
