What to expect
Luxor Museum
Your Egyptologist guide will meet you at your Luxor hotel or Nile Cruise lobby to start your tour of the Luxor Museum. The museum opened in 1975, showcases an impressive collection of artifacts primarily from the Middle Kingdom (2055 BC - c. 1650 BC), including pieces from the Theban temples and necropolis. In 2004, the museum was expanded with the "Glory of Thebes" exhibit, which houses remarkable collections from the New Kingdom (1570 - 1050 BC), including two royal mummies of Ahmose I and Ramses I. This is a must-visit destination for history lovers and those interested in ancient Egyptian culture.
Next, we will proceed to the Luxor Mummification Museum, which opened to the public in 1997. This small museum showcases a collection of human and animal mummies, as well as the tools and techniques used in the mummification process. You will learn about the ancient Egyptian belief that mummification was a crucial step in achieving eternal life and see examples of objects traditionally buried with the deceased.
Afterwards, you will get the chance to explore the Luxor tourist Souq, where you can have some free time to shop and haggle with local vendors for unique handcrafted souvenirs. Once you finish, you will be transported back to your hotel in Luxor.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
