The Gosaikunda Trek begins with a 7-hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, where you'll travel on the famous Prithvi Highway. Along the way, you'll pass through charming villages, terraced farms, lush green hillsides, and occasional mountains such as Ganesh Himal, and Annapurna Range before reaching Galchi and Trishuli Bazaar. After a few hours, you'll arrive at Dhunche, which is the administrative headquarter of Rasuwa District. Syabrubesi is the gateway to most of the trekking destinations in the Langtang region, providing various facilities such as hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, ATMs, and shops. Take a stroll around the lively town of Syabrubesi to soak up the local atmosphere.
Lama Hotel
After having breakfast early in the morning, you will prepare your backpacks and start your trek. You will cross a small suspension bridge over Ying Yang Khola and leave the main road behind, following a narrow trekking trail. The trail will run alongside Langtang Khola and will have gradual switchbacks. Oak and rhododendron trees will surround the trail for most of the day. Be sure to pay attention to the trail as you may come across some exotic birds and langurs. You will pass through several small teahouse settlements such as Tiwari Gaon , Domen, Bamboo, and Rimche. The trail will become relatively steep and challenging after Rimche until you finally reach Lama Hotel.
Langtang Valley Trek
The trail leads toward Langtang village, a rocky hillside with cascading waterfalls and occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri. You will follow the Langtang River uphill as you walk past the wide yak pasture land of Ghoda Tabela(Kyurpunesa), where you can enjoy the magnificent Langtang Range and surrounding landscapes. With an enticing view of the Langtang range, you will pass a few villages and monasteries to arrive in the Tamang village of Langtang.
Kyanjin Gompa
To reach one of the trek's most significant monuments, Kyajin Gompa you will leave Langtang behind. There is a strong presence of Buddhist culture here. As you make your way along the trail, you'll notice a gentle incline through the yak pastures. The valley begins to open up even more, offering splendid views that stretch out before you. On your way to Kyanjin Gompa, you will pass through a few villages, water mills, and chortens. For the locals of this area, Kyangin Gompa is a monastery of immense importance. As you travel, you will pass by several prayer flags, wheels, and little dwellings that people have built. Upon arriving you'll have plenty of time to relax in the afternoon or maybe even explore around. While there, you have the opportunity to visit the local yak cheese factory and try some cheese, or even purchase it.
Tserko Ri
Today, you will take a hike up to Tserko Ri, which is the highest altitude of our trek. During this hike, you will pass through various pastures with Yaks. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a spectacular sunrise, and a breathtaking view of the Langtang range. After spending some time there, you will hike back to Kyanjin and explore the village. We would recommend, only if you are willing to explore more, it might be worth checking out Langshisha Kharka up the Valley to witness some breathtaking views after exploring Tserko Ri.
Lama Hotel
Starting from Kyanjin, retrace the same path you took up the valley, following the Langtang Khola until you reach Mundu village and then proceed to Ghoda Tabela. The descent will be quicker than the ascent. After lunch, continue your descent down to Lama Hotel.
Today, you will be retracing your path back to Syabrubesi leading to Thulo Syabru. Your adventure will start with a steep descent to Rimche, followed by a gradual path leading to Syabrubesi. The trail is surrounded by oak and rhododendron trees, which offer splendid views of the Langtang Khola and exotic birds and animals. As you pass through villages, you will eventually arrive at the civilization of Syabrubesi. Before reaching the bazaar, you will cross a suspension bridge and connect to a motorway.Continue your steps to ThuloSyabru(Khedi), enjoying the quiet forested hills.
Langtang Valley Trek
Early in the morning after breakfast you will make your way to Sing Gompa also popularly known as Chandanbari. You will ascend a steep way through Dursangang enjoying the splendid view of Langtang Lirung, Gaurishankar, and Ganesh Himal. Your journey to Sing Gompa is both thrilling and enjoyable, passing through an oak and hemlock forest, rhododendron and pasture meadows, and climbing steep ridges. Later in the evening, you'll visit the cheese factory, which is this area's main attraction
It will take roughly 5-6 hours to get to the destination, Gosaikunda Lake. For Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims, Gosaikunda Lake has unparalleled importance. The trail gradually ascends up from the beginning. You will be hiking via rugged and narrow trail all the way to Gosaikunda. Before arriving at Cholang Pati and Lauribinayak, you will pass through a number of lakes. From Lauribinayak Hill, you can witness the Himalayas in an incredible panoramic vista. After stopping there for a while, you'll continue walking across rocky pathways and steep ridges, to reach Gosaikunda. Hindu mythology suggests that the holy lakes of Gosaikunda were created by Lord Shiva's Trishul to quench his throat's heat after consuming poison from Samudra Manthan. It is said that having a holy bath in the lake will bring you closer to God.
You will take a break from your walk today to see the monasteries, chortens, and cultural landmarks near Gosainkunda Lake. The lake offers a breathtaking view of the Langtang Lirung (7234m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), and other mountains.
You are going to have breakfast at the hotel while admiring the picturesque morning. Since today is your final day of hiking, take time to enjoy each step and the scenery since it will take you around 6-7 hours to reach Dhunche. Retrace your steps from Gosaikunda to Sing Gompa, through Dimsa, towards Deurali, and finally up the steps to Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa alongside the Trishuli River. You will pass through a thick pine, oak, rhododendron, and juniper forest on your journey to Dhunche.
