Jakarta Cathedral
Gereja Katedral Jakarta, Dutch: Kathedraal van Jakarta) is a Latin Catholic cathedral in Jakarta, Indonesia, which is also the seat of the Archbishop of Jakarta, currently Archbishop Ignatius Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo. Its official name is Gereja Santa Maria Diangkat ke Surga, derived from the original name in Dutch, De Kerk van Onze Lieve Vrouwe ten Hemelopneming (English: The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption). This current cathedral was consecrated in 1901 and built in the neo-Gothic style, a common architectural style to build churches at that time.
Taman Proklamasi, also referred to as the Proclamation Monument or the Proclamation Park, is nestled at Jalan Pegangsaan Timur 56 in the heart of Jakarta. Formerly, this landmark used to be the residence of Sukarno, the first President of Indonesia.
Dharma Bhakti Temple
Jakarta has no less than 140 Chinese temples across this sprawling cosmopolitan city. However, oldest among them all is the temple at Petak Sembilan in Jakarta’s Chinatown, locally better known as Glodok. Originally built in 1650 by Chinese lieutenant Kwee Hoen, the temple was called Koan Im Teng, dedicated to the goddess Kwan Im. In its long history, this Taoist temple changed names a number of times. In 1740 at the horrific Chinese massacre by the Dutch, the temple was destroyed, but it was again rebuilt in 1755 by Chinese captain Oei Tjhie, who named it Kim Tek Le or Jin De Yuan (meaning golden wisdom). Later its name was translated into Bahasa Indonesia to become known as the Vihara Dharma Bhakti.
Sunda Kalapa is the old port of Jakarta, located on the estuary of the Ciliwung River. "Sunda Kalapa" is the original name, and it was the main port of the Sunda Kingdom. The port is situated in Penjaringan District, of North Jakarta, Indonesia. Today the old port only accommodates pinisi, a traditional two-masted wooden sailing ship providing inter-island freight service in the archipelago. Although it is now only a minor port, Jakarta has its origins in Sunda Kelapa and it played a significant role in the city's development. The port is currently operated by the state-owned Indonesia Port
Jakarta Old Town
Kota Tua Jakarta (Indonesian for "Jakarta Old Town"), officially known as Kota Tua, is a neighborhood comprising the original downtown area of Jakarta, Indonesia. It is also known as Oud Batavia (Dutch for "Old Batavia"), Benedenstad ("Lower City", contrasting it with Weltevreden, de Bovenstad ("Upper City"), or Kota Lama (Indonesian for "Old Town").
Makutharama Puppet Studio
A Puppet Studio Jakarta is a space where puppetry, an ancient form of storytelling and performance art, comes to life. Puppetry involves the manipulation of puppets to tell stories, and it has been an integral part of many cultures around the world. In particular, shadow puppets (or wayang kulit) are an iconic part of traditional Indonesian theater. These puppets are made from leather and projected onto a screen to create a unique visual experience, often accompanied by music and narration.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
