    It was a unique and delightful experience. Our host chefs were detail oriented, knowledgeable about the history of the food and Key West, entertaining, engaging and fun. Cooking instructions were very clear. The food was delicious, the cocktails refreshingly tropical. The retro atmosphere contributed to the ambience, including a massive chandelier made of steel fry pans and pots. We left with copies of the recipes and a smile on our faces! Thank you!

    I really wanted to like this more than I did. It’s a new business that just opened in March, and we wanted to support it. They need to work out some kinks. I think I expected more stories and more laughter while they were cooking. There were 13 of us sitting at tables facing the stage like setting of a kitchen, much like you would see on TV, and there was an overhead screen focused on what was cooking in the pots and pans on the stove. There were 4 courses of food that were served that were prepared in the back and handed out to each of us. The cost of tickets included the food, cards that included the recipes that were held together with a magnet clip, and a recipe journal book for you to write notes in. The menus change by the day and there are no choices or substitutions. There are drinks you can order from the behind the scenes bar for an extra tab, although there was ice tea and your first glass of sangria included, as well as water. I’m glad I tried it out, but would not go again.

Whether it’s conch fritters, jerk chicken, or Key lime pie, every dish is packed with bold, tropical flavors and thoughtful touches. Arrive early or plan to linger afterward—you’ll want time to visit the bar. Their craft cocktails are on another level. Their margaritas and daiquiris feel like the island, but our favorites were the Lavender Haze and the Curry Old Fashioned. The bartenders were friendly and clearly took pride in mixing up something special. It's the kind of place where you take a sip, smile, and immediately start planning your next visit. A great way to spend an afternoon or evening in Key West.

The chefs were exceptional guides, leading us through the preparation of classic dishes like Ropa Vieja, Tostones, Cuban Chimichurri, Flan, and Sangria. Their expertise and enthusiasm made the entire experience feel approachable yet immersive. Each dish came with a story—how the slow-simmered Ropa Vieja reflects Cuba’s culinary traditions, how crispy Tostones connect to the flavors of the Caribbean, and how Cuban Chimichurri adds boldness and depth to any meal. Every bite had history, shaped by the people who brought their food, traditions, and flavors to Key West. What made this experience truly extraordinary was how the chefs wove the narrative of Key West’s past into every step. The island’s position as a crossroads between Cuban and Bahamian cultures is evident in its food—each dish carrying whispers of migration, trade, and shared traditions across generations. Whether it was the rich, caramelized Flan for dessert or the refreshing Sangria to sip alongside our creations, every recipe told a story of resilience and cultural blending. If you’re looking for a fun, hands-on way to explore Key West beyond the beaches and bars, I strongly recommend this cooking experience.     This a a new activity that takes place on the second floor of the mall building (brick building) in Mallory Square. They were offering half off the ticket price when we were there last week, and it was worth twice what we paid! Two hours of great fun and laughs while one learns the tips and tricks for making a perfect meal from a true Chef. We learned to make and ate seafood risotto, fried plantains, flan, and a white bean and andouille soup. All of the food was amazing! The service was excellent as well. Ordering from the attached bar (Bar 1) is seamless and the homemade Key Lime Pie rivals any other on the Island (It may be the best-- sorry Ker...).
