What to expect
The Burana Tower is an 11th-century minaret near Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan, once part of the ancient Silk Road city Balasagun. Originally 45 meters tall, it now stands at 25 meters due to earthquake damage. In 2014, it was inscribed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang’an–Tianshan Corridor," recognizing its historical and cultural significance. The site also includes ancient mausoleums, balbals (stone grave markers), and city ruins.
The Konorchek Canyons are striking red sandstone formations located in the Boom Gorge of Kyrgyzstan, about 125 km from Bishkek. Known for their dramatic cliffs, narrow passages, and unique shapes, they are often called “Kyrgyzstan’s Grand Canyon.” The area is popular for hiking and photography, offering stunning views shaped by millions of years of wind and water erosion.
Issyk Kul Lake
Issyk-Kul Lake is a large, deep, saltwater lake in eastern Kyrgyzstan, located at an altitude of 1,607 meters (5,272 feet) above sea level. Surrounded by the Tian Shan Mountains, it is the second-largest alpine lake in the world and remains ice-free year-round. Known for its clear waters and natural beauty, Issyk-Kul is a major tourist attraction and held historical importance as a stop on the ancient Silk Road.
Chon-Kemin National Park
Chon Kemin National Park is located in the Chon Kemin Valley of northern Kyrgyzstan. Known for its stunning natural beauty, the park features mountains, rivers, forests, and alpine meadows. It’s popular for hiking, wildlife watching, and horseback riding around the area. Visitors can also experience traditional Kyrgyz culture in nearby villages. The park protects rich biodiversity, including endangered species like the snow leopard
