Parque Memorial Inflexion

Early on Wednesday, January 13, 1988 an apocalyptic noise shook the heart of Santa Maria de los Angeles, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the sector of El Poblado in Medellin. The Cali cartel had detonated a car bomb with 80 kilos of dynamite in front of the Monaco building, inhabited at that time by the family of Pablo Escobar Gaviria. This fateful explosion gave an official start to the bloodiest war that can remember the history of the country among drug cartels. The bombing, which destroyed windows four blocks away and left three dead and 10 wounded, was the preamble of an all-out war between the most powerful drug trafficking organizations: the Medellin and Cali cartels.
