    Skip the line ticket is not required. We had to wait anyway. Poorly organized on the site. The palate is a must.

    Amazing palace perched up on the mountain top! We had a tour of the inside as well (skip the line tickets). As much as we did skip the line to purchase tickets you are still in a lineup to view the inside on your timed entry. Didn't take long to get going though. Not sure what this would be like in the busy season. May was busy enough!

    I booked skip the line tickets and it was no such thing. My husband and friends who they have difficulty waiting on line. To get to the palace it was a nightmare, no taxi want to do to take us, then we tried the shuttle which never showed up for a whole hour. When the shuttle showed up it was so many people waiting to take the bus . Unfortunately most of the employees we encountered in the palace were rude and very unfriendly. The whole experience was not worth it to see some old tiles and very outdated building. I don’t think it is worth going there for someone had to climb so many stairs and limited information, and rude transfer employees. By the way everyone there tell you untrue information in regards of prices and services. Don’t think the ticket you get from the website is true as far as the service provided.

    There is insufficient information on how you can drive and park in the public car park at Pena Palace. You can’t, you have to park in Sintra and either hike the uphill miles, or book a taxi for both directions (expensive) or use one of the many organisations that will charge you to park, and then ferry you to the Palace for a fee (expensive). The area is littered with people pretending to be officials (they’re not) directing you to their own car park. The Palace itself is in need of a big paint job and the interior is so busy, that you can rarely stop to appreciate the furnishings. The time of your ticket booking is for the inside of the Palace and not what time you must arrive and gain access to the Palace exterior.

    When you Uber or map drive time to the park from the downtown area it’s under 10 minutes. When you get in the Uber it changes to 30 minutes and take even longer. Then it’s a good 20 minute walk up to the palace entry. This all would have been fine if we had known this in advance. Once we realized we would be 15 min late I contacted the guide. No response. We ended up hiring another guide to help us gain entry. You really don’t even need a guided tour because it’s a guided audio so as long as you bring earbuds you’re golden. This guide only messaged me back hours later saying go soon and they may be able to get you in. What a joke. If he’d messaged me back we probably could have caught up with the tour despite being a very minutes late due to completely unforeseen circumstances. This was a money pit. Very disappointed with the stress of this experience.
